Welcome to a new school year. I am looking forward to a wonderful Kindergarten year with your child. Below I have listed information that you will find helpful for your kindergartner regarding activities in school and schedules.
SPECIAL SCHEDULE

Tuesday- Library
Wednesday- Gym (please wear sneaker)
Thursday- Art
Friday- Music
PICK UP FROM KINDERGARTEN
If your child will be picked up from Kindergarten by someone other than his or her parent (play date, baby-sitter, grandparent, etc.), please send a note with your child that day.
If the same person will be picking up your child every day (regular carpool, baby-sitter, nanny, etc.), you may send one note in at the beginning of the school year.
If your child is a bus student and there is a day they will not be taking the bus please send in a note so that I can let the office know.
If you will be picking your child up earlier than our regular dismissal time you must sign them out in the office.
There will be a form to fill to out beginning of the year regarding your child’s usual means of transportation.
BIRTHDAYS/SPECIAL SNACKS
If your child is celebrating a birthday or special occasion and would like to share a snack with the class, please let me know in advance. Also, please see teacher regarding food allergies. Summer birthdays will be celebrated in the month of June.
SNACKS
Please provide a healthy snack daily for your child. Again, please see teacher regarding food allergies when providing a snack.
SHOW AND TELL
We will have Show and Tell on Fridays. Each child may bring in one item from home that they would like to share and talk about. We encourage everyone to contribute but realize that some children will chose not to participate each week. We will also have a Special Show and Tell about once a week called “Rub a Dub, Dub, the letter ___ is in my tub.” These show and tells should begin with our letter of the week and a note will be sent home that night before each Rub a Dub, Dub day. Our final show and tell, which takes place about monthly, is “Mystery Show and Tell”, which has a thematic component. You will be notified a week in advance of each “Mystery Show and Tell.”
HOMEWORK/NOTICES/TAKEHOME FOLDERS:
Students will have regular homework to reinforce various skills. Please be sure to check your child’s take home folder each night for assignments and other important notices. Please be sure to return their folder each day to school with their completed homework and necessary notices.
DISCIPLINE AND POSITIVE INCENTIVE:
To help students be aware and responsible for ones behavior they can track how they are doing through our “How am I doing Today?” Traffic Light Bulletin. Each day the class starts on green.
The goal is to stay on green throughout the day. If a child is misbehaving they will receive a verbal warning. If behavior continues, they are moved to yellow. If they receive another warning they may be moved to red. Depending on the severity of the behavior the child may need to fill out a “Stop and Think Sheet” that will be sent home to be signed and returned. Please refer to Wildwood Code of Conduct. Students also have an individual rainbow fish from the story, The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Phfister. For good behavior, sharing, listening, acts of kindness, etc… children may receive a shiny scale to add to their rainbow fish. Scales are typically given out when the teacher catches a child doing something good. Once a child receives 10 scales they select a school related prize. Their scales are then removed and the goal is to reach 10 scales once again. If the class had a super day with everyone staying on green the class will receive a scale. Rainbow Fish plays a special role in our classroom and has shown to be an incredible positive incentive for Kindergarten students throughout the years.
CLASSROOM NEWSLETTER:
A classroom newsletter will go out every Friday throughout the school year. Please be sure to read our news to see what your child has been up to and upcoming events/reminders. I hope you find our newsletter letter helpful and informative of all Kindergarten happenings.
