As part of our LREP goal of balancing the tradition of educational excellence along with innovation to make the most engaging and relevant learning environment possible for our students, several teachers at MLHS are piloting a blended learning experience. Ms. Nancy Latimer, our Educational Technology Specialist and facilitator of our Online Academy, is working side-by-side with Mr. Cosgrove, Ms. Mary Kane-Malone and Miss Begona Rodriguez in supporting these pilots in AP Economics, Latin and Spanish. This blended learning experience allows teachers and students to manage and organize course materials, integrate and deliver multimedia content, and connect with Google Apps for Education, YouTube, and many other online resources. Dr. Mucci and myself are also offering a new online elective, Law & Courts, in which students access the curriculum via Canvas, a virtual learning platform. The greatest benefit to having a blended learning experience is the ability for students to access course content whenever, wherever, and “why-ever” as often as they want, enabling them to customize their personal learning experience. The MLHS Principal, Mr. Jeremy Davies is leading this project and his vision for it epitomizes our LREP's goal of innovation.
