2011-2012 Initiatives: ML100 Centennial, EDseries & the MLHS Summer Academy

In 2011 the curriculum office was created to support the great work being done in each of the schools. We also work with teachers and community members to implement our district's Long Range Education Plan. Finally, our mission also focuses on ensuring a fidelity to curricular initiatives among our schools by fostering articulation and collaboration.

Look through the links below to learn how we worked with the ML Education Foundation in sponsoring a series of workshops geared for parents and students that focused on our LREP goals of sustainability & 21st Century skills. Also, our students joined their parents in celebrating the community's centennial. Even though the party is over, the resources we created can still be used in our classes to connect our students to their town's history. Finally, the MLHS Summer Academy returned in 2012 for its second year with more classes and greater opportunities for students to continue pursuing intellectual and fun interests in the month of July.

Lake Drive Kids

2011-2012 EDseries

In partnership with the Mountain Lakes Educational Foundation, the Mountain Lakes School District is sponsoring a series of workshops geared for parents and students. Our inaugural program began on November 29th with an “Online Reputation” discussion moderated by MLHS students. A “Lunch & Learn” followed for our kindergarten and pre-K families. Another highlight was our BC Fitness workout in January, just in time for our New Years' resolutions. In March we had a successful Literacy Cafe with children’s author Ms. Arlene Sullivan and Wildwood Principal Mrs. Beth Azar. Also in March, there was a special evening focused on the struggles of teenage girls that was be moderated by Dr. Mucci and Dr. Moore. In April we we celebrated a community-wide read and talk on "This I Believe," moderated by Mr. Paul Henry & select MLHS English teachers! MLHS Summer Academy 2012: Year 2

We at the Mountain Lakes School District are proud to be expanding our academic program with another summer session this year. The Mountain Lakes High School Summer Academy offers middle school and high school students the opportunity to enroll in advance credit, preview and enrichment courses. The Academy promotes a supportive learning environment where every student is challenged, inspired, and empowered to cultivate the intellectual curiosity, skills, and knowledge needed to contribute as a responsible and productive citizen of the global community. Make sure to check the Academy website for our catalog.

ML 100 School Projects & Resources

In 2011, teachers and students from each of our schools joined community members to commemorate the Mountain Lakes Centennial. Our ML100 Education Subcommittee has worked hard all year creating projects and activities that involved our students in this incredible celebration. Make sure to stay up to date by checking the town's centennial site and our district's blog.
