Grade 5 Math PREVIEW
Time: 8:05 am – 10:10 pm
July 15 - July 26                                                                                      Tuition: $225 (Note: 2-week class)
This two-week, comprehensive class is designed to give all students the building blocks of math that will serve as a firm foundation for 5th grade through middle school math courses. The presentation of the curriculum will integrate students’ previous knowledge with new concepts in the areas of number sense, place value, fractions, and problem solving. Students will leave class more confident in their mathematical ability and able to reason their way to valid conclusions.
This class will meet at MLHS.

Math Lab/Grades 7-12 (offered each week)

Time: 10:25 am - 12:30 pm            Tuition: $110 per week
Students are able to work at their own pace under the supervision of a certified mathematics teacher. Instruction is offered for mathematics course ranging from Algebra 1 to Calculus. Classes are limited in size and designed to provide a combination of both one-on-one work as well as a more structured, small group, classroom environment. Two-week minimum registration is required.

Math Fundamentals / Grades 6 & 7 PREVIEW
Time: 10:25 am – 12:30 pm     Tuition: $650
This six-week, comprehensive class is designed to give all students the building blocks of math that will serve as a firm foundation for algebra and future math courses. The presentation of the curriculum will integrate their previous knowledge with new concepts in the areas of number sense, geometry, algebra, data analysis and problem-solving.  Specific topics include:  integers, patterns, graphs, probability, number theory, fractions, percents, ratios, proportions, geometry, and an introduction to algebra. Students will leave each class with new mathematical concepts, armed with a variety of problem-solving techniques, and able to reason their way to valid conclusions.

Algebra 1 / Grades 7 - 9
Advanced Credit Time: 8:05 am – 12:30 pm                  Tuition: $1300 Advanced Credit        Prerequisite: Pre-algebra
Preview Time: 8:05 am - 10:10 am                                 Tuition: $650 PREVIEW
This six-week course covers a range of algebraic topics that will appear in the NJ end-of-course assessment. Students will explore the basic concepts of algebraic skills through three key ideas: the equation and inequality; data analysis and graphs; and the translation of verbal situations into algebraic symbols. Word problems and factoring are emphasized as are methods of solving quadratic equations. Geometric concepts, probability, and graph interpretation allow for the application of the algebraic skills. Formulas, function notation, graphing, the laws of exponents and radicals, operations with polynomials, factoring, and solving quadratic equations by factoring, writing equations of lines, proportions and the quadratic formula are some of the topics presented. The course also calls on students to practice applying mathematical ways of thinking to real world issues and challenges.

Geometry / Grades 9 – 10
Advanced Credit 8:05 am – 12:30 pm          Tuition: $1300 Advanced Credit              Prerequisite: Algebra 1
Preview Time10:25 am – 12:30 pm                     Tuition: $650 PREVIEW
This six-week course covers the basic concepts of plane, solid, coordinate, and some analytic geometry while stressing deductive proof and reasoning. Throughout the year the properties learned in algebra are reintroduced during this course. The aims and objectives of the course are to develop and show the value of the logic of deductive reasoning and to improve and increase the understanding and application of the terminology, the symbolism, and the structure of mathematics. Non-Euclidean geometries such as fractal geometry and the Lenart sphere are investigated.  Some student projects will involve the use of computer technology.

Algebra II / Grades 9 – 11

Advanced Credit 8:05 am – 12:30 pm                      Tuition: $1300 Advanced Credit
Preview Time8:05 am - 10:10am                            Tuition: $650                                              Prerequisite: Geometry
This six-week course presents a rigorous and enhanced study of the algebraic concepts introduced in Algebra I. These concepts are extensively augmented by the usage of graphing calculators. The functions - namely the linear, quadratic, absolute value, exponential, and logarithmic - are examined both algebraically and graphically. Because of the emphasis on the graphs of the aforementioned functions, the graphing calculator is an integral part of this course. Additional topics include the study of the higher-order inequalities, the polynomial and rational functions, the applications of linear and quadratic equations, systems of equations and inequalities, matrix algebra, advanced techniques for graphic functions, and probability.

Pre-Calculus / Grades 10 - 12

Advanced credit 8:05 am – 12:30 pm                     Tuition: $1300 Advanced Credit
PREVIEW : 8:05-10:10       Tuition: $650 Preview                               Prerequisite: Algebra II with Trigonometry
This six-week course is a study of analytic geometry, advanced algebra, and trigonometry. More work is undertaken on the study of vector algebra and vector equations, parametric equations, and rectangular equations of lines and planes.  Topics in advanced algebra are studied including the binomial theorem, mathematical induction, parametric equations, and polar coordinates. Some emphasis is placed on the study of limits in order to provide sufficient background for the next course in calculus. The graphing calculator is used extensively.
