IT Technician

 

The IT Technician’s role is to ensure proper service delivery of IT services so that end users can efficiently operate and deliver education services for the Mountain Lakes School District. This includes prioritizing, documenting, actively resolving end user support requests, and caring for the larger supporting IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing superior customer service to Helpdesk requests, support personnel, and fellow employees
  • Demonstrating good social skills in a professional environment
  • Resolving issues in a timely manner, including education of end-users on technology usage as needed
  • Managing multiple tasks efficiently and effectively prioritizing busy workloads
  • Setting up and installing new equipment and relocating existing equipment as needed
  • Managing and troubleshooting of installed software, hardware, IT infrastructure (servers, networking, storage)
  • Keeping server room, store rooms, and work areas in an orderly manner
  • Providing technology support for a top tier K-12 education environment

     

    Basic Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of basic computer/network concepts and terms
  • Proven work experience supporting Mac and Windows based end user devices (Mac Books, iPads, Windows 7 & 10, etc.)
  • 1+ years supporting Chromebooks in an enterprise environment 
  • 3+ years technical experience in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer Science Associates degree or higher
  • Stand/walk for 8 hours at a time, safely use ladders, and lift equipment greater than 20 lbs.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric
  • Ability to manage multiple customer requests simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize work based on department and production objectives
  • Self-motivated interest to learn new technology and concepts in education

     

    Preferred Qualifications 

  • 3+ years working in a K-12 technology environment or other face to face end user support
  • Certified or equivalent experience/knowledge of PC, Macs, and networking
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining LaserJet printers
  • Experience with Google G Suite apps and Gmail management
  • Experience with inventory and asset management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfortable communicating in person and via phone with peers, managers, vendors, and helpdesk end users
  • 1+ years’ experience with basic system administration and server maintenance
  • 1+ years of experience working in a production environment
